PGE Weekly Update 10/5/25

Posted Date: 10/05/25 (05:00 PM)

Good evening, Shooting Star Families,
This is your Principal, Melissa Baird, sharing important information with you in our weekly updates for PGE.  First and foremost, congratulations to students who were “Caught Being a Star!”   Also, congratulations to our PGE September Students of the Month who were recognized for being a “Peace-Maker” and for being “Diligent.” Here is what is going on at PGE this week:

  • Y-Reads will meet Monday through Thursday from 3:30pm-5:00pm.
  • The Good News Club will meet on Thursday from 3:30pm-5:00pm.
  • Fall Picture Day is Thursday, October 9th.
  • There will be a PTA Meeting at 4:30pm on Thursday, October 9th.
  • The end of first quarter is Friday, October 10th.
  • The PTA School Store will be open on Friday, October 10th.
As a reminder, here is what I sent out on Friday regarding parent pick-up, parent drop-off, and families within walking distance:
As always, safety is paramount at Pleasant Grove Elementary School.  If you utilize parent drop-off and parent pick-up, please review and adhere to the following procedures:

 Parent Drop-Off:
*Please do not have your students exit the vehicle until a PGE Staff Member is there to assist.  All students must stay in their vehicle until a PGE Staff Member is there to open the door.
*You may not drop your child off and drive away.  We open the doors at 8:50am, and then will have PGE Staff Members there to assist students with safely exiting vehicles.
*Parents/guardians must stay in their vehicle until it is time to buckle/unbuckle their child.

 Parent Pick-Up:
*Please have your car-tag clearly visible at all times - all the way through the line.
*If you do not have your car tag, please have your ID available for the person who is calling student names.
*Parents/guardians must stay in their vehicle until it is time to buckle/unbuckle their child.
*PGE Staff Members are not allowed to buckle your child in.

Families Within Walking Distance (2 miles):
*If you are within the approved walking distance, you must visit our front office to obtain a "Walker Pass."  You must carry this pass with you when walking-up to drop-off your child and/or walking-up to pick-up your child.
*Walking your child does not mean that you are allowed to walk them to class.
*If you are within walking distance - that means that you are walking to/from your house.  A "Walker Pass" does not provide you permission to drive your car and park on the side of the road or our neighboring church.
*You must carry your "Walker Pass" so that our PGE Staff Members know you are approved to walk your child to/from your house.

 Please Be Kind and Patient:
*Please be kind to and patient with each other as all of our families are doing their best to - as quickly as possible - safely unbuckle/safely buckle their child before moving forward in the car-line.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation with our school safety procedures!
Have an amazing week PGE Families and stay tuned for your next PGE Weekly Update on Sunday, October 12th.
Sincerely,
Melissa Baird, Principal
